How We Make New Car Keys! Lost all your car keys? Don’t worry—we can create a new set for you. As an innovative auto locksmith company, we use a variety of techniques to handle lost key situations efficiently and cost-effectively. Instead of relying on key codes from the vehicle identification number (VIN), we often utilize lock decoders and other advanced tools to save you money.
For vehicles with transponder chip keys, we cut the key using one of our specialized methods and then program the vehicle’s immobilizer system to recognize and store the new key in its memory.
Car Key Programming After cutting a key that mechanically operates your car’s locks and ignition, the next step is programming the car’s computer to recognize the transponder chip embedded in the key. Since the late 1990s, most vehicles have been equipped with an immobilizer system—a security feature designed to prevent theft.
The immobilizer system uses a receiver to detect a programmed key when you attempt to start the car. If no programmed key is detected, the system assumes a theft attempt and prevents the engine from starting, even if the ignition lock is tampered with.
Due to this advanced security feature, automotive locksmiths must be skilled in programming car keys. We achieve this by investing in cutting-edge equipment and receiving specialized training to ensure we can program your key quickly and effectively.
