The Toyota MR2 was a two-seater convertible coupe.
The facelifted variant of the third generation, which originally came out in 2000, was presented in 2002.
The updated model brought not only cosmetic changes to both the exterior and interior, but also enhanced driving dynamics and safety features.
Visually, the vehicle received revised lighting elements: the bi-beam headlights contributed to a more dynamic look, and the taillights were equipped with red lenses.
The front end of the MR2 was updated with a trapezoidal bumper design and a bolder grille. The side vents were modernized and matched the body color.
In the back, the car boasted a larger exhaust outlet and bigger 16-inch wheels for improved rear stability.
The cabin received chrome accents, a reorganized dashboard layout, and new heating controls. The seats were redesigned for enhanced comfort and support.
The transmission options included a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed SMT (Sequential Manual Transmission).
Models with the SMT system came standard with Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, and Brake Assist.
Powering the Toyota MR2 was a 1.8-liter engine producing 138 horsepower. Although it couldn’t claim top speed performance, it provided an enjoyable driving experience thanks to its excellent handling characteristics.
Production of the MR2 was halted in 2005 due to poor sales performance.
