Mitsubishi introduced the eighth generation of its mid-size lineup, the Galant, in 1997, aiming to catch up with other Japanese automakers. The ES and Sport editions housed a 2.4-liter engine producing 160 hp, paired with a standard 4-speed automatic transmission that included semi-manual shifting through Mitsubishi’s Sportronic system.
