In 2022, Land Rover launched a new generation of the Range Rover Sport, significantly enhancing its technological capabilities and setting new standards in the luxury SUV segment.
The original Range Rover Sport, introduced in 2005, was based on the Land Rover Discovery 3 chassis, complemented by premium features from the flagship Range Rover model. The second generation transitioned to the shared L405 platform with Range Rover and Discovery 4. For 2022, the manufacturer adopted the innovative MLA architecture, previously exclusive to the Jaguar XJ, J-Pace, and Range Rover models.
The updated design incorporated elements inspired by the Range Rover Velar, featuring retractable door handles and angular LED headlamps. The characteristic sloping windshield and forward-angled rear glass, hallmarks since the first generation, remained prominent. A robust bumper with dual grilles and side-mounted fog lamps effectively camouflaged the elevated front end, creating a horizontal pattern that seamlessly connected the headlights.
The interior showcases a minimalist aesthetic, highlighted by a 13.7-inch TFT driver display and a 13.1-inch curved touchscreen replacing the traditional center stack. A prominent center console separates the front sport seats. Recognizing the vehicle’s typical occupancy of up to four passengers, the rear center seat functions more as a pass-through between the comfortable outer seats, though it includes a third headrest.
The vehicle features mild-hybrid drivetrains paired with either gasoline or turbo-diesel engines. The flagship variant boasts a powerful twin-turbo V8 engine sourced from BMW, delivering exceptional performance capabilities.
This latest iteration of the Range Rover Sport represents a significant advancement in Land Rover’s engineering prowess, blending cutting-edge technology with luxurious amenities and refined design elements, positioning the vehicle as a leader in its class for both performance and luxury.
