In 2019, Land Rover introduced a significantly updated version of the Discovery Sport. The exterior features new LED headlights and taillights with a distinctive design.
The vehicle is based on an updated version of the D8 platform, which has been modified to accommodate a plug-in hybrid system. This updated platform, now known as PTA (Premium Transverse Architecture), was first introduced in the Range Rover Evoque. It includes a new 48-volt mild-hybrid system aimed at reducing fuel consumption and emissions. To enhance driving range, the revised platform boasts a 20% larger fuel tank, now holding 65 liters (17.1 US gallons).
The interior can accommodate up to seven passengers and features an advanced infotainment system with integrated 4G hotspot capabilities. Convenience is enhanced with multiple USB ports strategically placed throughout the cabin. The latest Discovery Sport also incorporates artificial intelligence that adapts to the driver’s preferences for seating position, massage function, and cabin temperature. The 2019 model offers four trim levels: H, SE, HSE, and the R-Dynamic variant, which features unique bumpers and distinctive alloy wheels.
Under the hood, all Discovery Sport models are equipped with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, available in either turbodiesel or turbo-gasoline configurations. Power output ranges from 150 to 250 horsepower. The base 150 hp turbodiesel model comes with front-wheel drive, while all other variants feature all-wheel drive for enhanced performance and traction.
