With Infiniti already offering a three-row SUV in its range, the QX, there was still a gap in the lineup. Most premium car makers were enjoying great success with their luxurious crossovers, so Infiniti released the JX.
Based on the same platform used to build the Nissan Murano, the JX was longer and wider. It offered seating for seven, with tilt-and-slide second-row seats, providing great legroom and easy access to the third row.
The Infiniti JX was available in a single version, the JX35. Customers looking for additional equipment could choose from four different packages with numerous features included. While adding packages was costly, the base version was already well-equipped, with 18-inch alloys, automatic bi-xenon headlights, LED tail lights, fog lights, heated exterior mirrors, keyless entry, keyless go, a power sunroof, and a power liftgate. Interior features included leather upholstery, heated front seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, a rearview camera, a central display screen, and a 6-speaker audio system.
The additional packages were Premium, Theater, Deluxe Touring, and Technology. However, choosing just one package was tricky, as the Deluxe Touring required the Theater, and the Technology required the Deluxe Touring.
The JX ran on a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produced 265 hp. Mated with the CVT as the only transmission option, the JX was a little underpowered compared to the sportier crossovers on the market. Available with both front-wheel drive and an optional all-wheel-drive system, the JX achieved nearly identical fuel consumption rates.
