The second iteration of the Hyundai Genesis made its debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, showcasing an impressive array of features and advanced technological innovations.
By this time, Genesis had begun its journey towards establishing itself as a distinct luxury brand within the Hyundai Motor Group. The second-generation model distinguished itself from other Hyundai vehicles through its unique design philosophy. The vehicle’s signature feature was a 3D-hexagonal grille finished in semi-gloss chrome, which housed HID headlamps, LED turn signals, and fog lights. The rear lighting system featured full LED taillights with a hexagonal-diamond cut design.
The Genesis offered exceptional comfort thanks to its traditional platform layout, featuring a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive configuration. This setup contributed to an impressive wheelbase of 3010 mm (118.5 inches) and an overall length of 4990 mm (196.5 inches). The dashboard incorporated high-resolution TFT LCD technology, with a standard 4.3-inch TFT LCD cluster display, and an optional 7.0-inch screen was also available.
Under the hood, buyers had two engine options. The base powertrain was a 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine producing 257 horsepower and 304 Nm (224 lb-ft) of torque. The top-of-the-line variant featured a potent 5.0-liter V8 gasoline engine delivering 420 horsepower and 520 Nm (383 lb-ft) of torque. Power was transmitted to either the rear wheels or an all-wheel-drive system through an 8-speed automatic transmission developed in-house by Hyundai.
