In 2021, Hyundai unveiled the first major update for the Genesis G90 lineup, three years after its initial launch in the United States. This comprehensive refresh impacted the vehicle’s exterior, interior, and powertrain systems.
As the flagship model of the Korean automaker and the premium brand within the Hyundai-Kia group, the Genesis G90 provided the ultimate luxury driving experience. Like other models in its class, it underwent a scheduled facelift every three years to maintain its competitive edge.
The 2022 model year, launched towards the end of 2021, marked a significant transformation for this luxury vehicle. The headlight design saw a complete overhaul rather than mere reshaping – featuring two slender LED lines separated by a horizontal bar instead of a single headlamp unit. The front grille retained its diamond shape, while the lower bumper was updated with larger air intakes. Along the sides, a distinctive sculpted line originated from the front fenders, flowing gracefully across the bodywork and culminating in the taillights with a downward curve.
The interior offered an array of five color combinations for the Korean market: Obsidian Black/Mono-Tone, Bordeaux Brown/Obsidian Black Two-Tone, Glacier White/Urban Brown Two-Tone, Modern Gray/Galaxy Black Two-Tone, and Dune Beige/Velvet Burgundy Two-Tone. The dashboard received a thorough redesign, incorporating a fully digital instrument panel and an additional display mounted above the center console. The traditional gear selector was replaced by a rotary dial on the center console.
While the exterior and interior received extensive updates, the powertrain lineup was streamlined to a single engine option: a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, offering both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.
