The Hyundai Genesis second generation made its debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, impressing the audience with its extensive list of features and advanced technological innovations.
At this point, the Genesis was well on its way to becoming an independent luxury brand for the South Korean automaker. The distinctive design philosophy of the new generation set it apart from other models in the Hyundai lineup. The vehicle’s signature feature was a 3D hexagonal grille finished in semi-gloss chrome, housing HID headlights, LED turn signals, and fog lights. The rear lighting system showcased full LED technology with a hexagonal-diamond cut design.
The sedan offered exceptional comfort thanks to its traditional platform layout, featuring a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive configuration, which contributed to an impressive wheelbase of 3010 mm (118.5 in). The overall length of the vehicle measured 4990 mm (196.5 in). The dashboard incorporated high-quality TFT LCD technology, with a standard 4.3-inch display and an optional 7.0-inch screen.
Under the hood, buyers could choose between two powertrain options: a base 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine producing 257 horsepower and 304 Nm (224 lb.-ft) of torque, or a top-of-the-line 5.0-liter V8 gasoline engine delivering 420 horsepower and 520 Nm (383 lb.-ft) of torque. Power was transmitted to either the rear wheels or a four-wheel-drive system through an 8-speed automatic transmission developed by Hyundai engineers.
