While other manufacturers focus on producing hatchbacks, Honda continues its attempt to capture the small-segment market with a compact MPV, introducing the new Jazz/Fit. This small MPV, which has been on the market since 2000, is now in its fourth generation. Previously, all generations were available exclusively as city cars.
This time, the Jazz offers a crossover variant called Jazz Crosstar, featuring plastic wheel arch extensions and SUV-inspired details, although it remains essentially a Jazz underneath. Interestingly, the crossover Honda HR-V also utilized the Jazz/Fit platform.
Unlike the previous generation, which had a hybrid option, the 2020 Jazz is available exclusively with hybrid powertrains. The setup consists of a 98 hp gasoline engine assisted by an electric motor, resulting in a combined output of 109 hp. Honda has not provided any performance figures, but we will update this information as it becomes available.
The MPV design contributes to a spacious interior. The Magic Seats system for the rear seats remains, along with the foldable rear seatback. This configuration places the fuel tank under the driver’s seat, resulting in a slightly elevated driving position. The dashboard reflects modern trends in connectivity, featuring a large TFT instrument panel and a 9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. The 2020 Jazz supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
