In 2015, Ford unveiled an updated version of the Ranger, which represented not a full-fledged new model, but rather a restyling aimed at enhancing the comfort and performance characteristics of Europe’s best-selling pickup truck.
The third generation of the Ford Ranger, launched in 2011, demonstrated significant growth in the market, capturing over 20% of the segment. Ford’s extensive experience in manufacturing and selling pickup trucks in the United States proved to be beneficial in the European market as well.
The 2015 Ranger Regular Cab received a revised exterior design as part of the facelift. The headlamps became more compact and were relocated higher up on the body to better protect them from minor damage during off-road driving or parking. Higher trim levels were distinguished by a chrome grille. The analysis showed that European consumers increasingly viewed the Ranger as a lifestyle vehicle, favoring recreational activities and off-road adventures over purely utilitarian use.
The interior configuration varied depending on the version. Basic models were sparsely equipped and focused on work duties at construction sites. Premium trims, including the top-of-the-line Wildtrak variant, boasted an advanced infotainment system, leather upholstery, climate control, and additional USB ports to cater to modern connectivity needs.
Powering the Ranger Regular Cab was a single engine option – a 2.2-liter unit delivering 160 horsepower. The standard transmission was a 6-speed manual gearbox, with customers having the choice between rear-wheel drive or a 4x4 system featuring a transfer case with high and low range gears.
