For 34 consecutive years, the Ford F-Series has maintained its position as the top-selling vehicle in the United States. This half-ton pickup truck has proven to be incredibly versatile, serving equally well as a reliable workhorse and a comfortable vehicle for personal use, whether for work or leisure activities.
The longevity of the F-Series’ success can be attributed to Ford’s commitment to continuous innovation rather than relying solely on its past achievements. In 2011, the lineup underwent significant updates, including the introduction of a powerful twin-turbocharged V6 engine and an improved transmission system. Additional enhancements focused on elevating both interior comfort and off-road performance capabilities. Notably, the rear axle was upgraded with a locking differential, replacing the previously used limited-slip type. Another significant addition was the Hill Start Assist feature, which transitioned from being an optional extra to becoming standard equipment starting in 2012. Higher trim levels, beginning with the Lariat, also benefited from a new two-speed automatic four-wheel-drive system.
The 2012 F-Series was available in three distinct body configurations: the standard Regular Cab, the extended SuperCab, and the spacious SuperCrew. The Regular Cab model featured a conveniently located small rear door that provided easy access to the area behind the seating arrangement. Regardless of the seating configuration—whether equipped with a bench seat or individual bucket seats—the design incorporated useful storage space in the rear area, ideal for carrying tools or other essential items.
The vehicle’s dashboard showcased a modern 4.2-inch display positioned between the instrument gauges, offering drivers real-time access to various vehicle data such as fuel efficiency, range estimates, average speed, and four-wheel-drive system status. Across its ten available trim levels, the F-Series featured Ford’s SYNC infotainment system (excluding the base XT model), providing seamless integration with iPods and Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones for enhanced connectivity and convenience.
