In 2021, Ford unveiled the third generation of the F150 Raptor for the 2022 model year, delivering an even more aggressive and capable off-road performance compared to its predecessors.
The automotive world was first captivated by the Raptor in 2009 with its debut generation, renowned for exceptional high-speed off-road capabilities. While competitors eventually caught up, Ford responded with successive generations, culminating in the 2021 model that set a new standard for tackling obstacles, dunes, and uneven terrain.
The vehicle’s imposing presence was undeniable, yet its capabilities belied its massive appearance. The design featured a prominent flat front grille adorned with large FORD lettering and flanked by LED headlights. The aluminum skid plate, rather than being concealed beneath the engine, was prominently integrated into the front bumper design. Viewed from the side, it retained the familiar silhouette of a four-door F150 with a separate cargo bed.
Inside, the cabin received subtle enhancements over the well-equipped F150 Crew Cab. The interior showcased Active Orange accents complemented by Tremor detailing, highlighted by unique seat upholstery with premium stitching, along with refined materials and finishes for the center stack, console, and door panels. A comprehensive TFT display dominated the instrument panel, offering an array of vehicle functions tailored specifically for the Raptor variant.
Underneath its formidable exterior, the Raptor boasted a twin-turbocharged engine mated to a 10-speed transmission, alongside a specially tuned chassis. The five-link rear suspension system incorporated extended trailing arms to optimize axle positioning on rugged terrain, complemented by a Panhard rod and 24-inch coil springs – the longest in its class.
