In 2022, Ford unveiled an updated version of the fourth-generation Escape for the 2023 model year, delivering enhancements to its exterior design, interior features, and crucially, its powertrain capabilities.
Based on the same platform as the European Ford Kuga and the fourth-generation Focus, the Escape emerged as an excellent choice for urban dwellers seeking a versatile crossover. While it performed admirably on long journeys, its relatively compact wheelbase made it more suitable for everyday driving rather than extended cross-country travel.
The revised model showcased a thoroughly updated front end, characterized by slimmer headlamps incorporating sharp LED daytime running lights. The 2023 iteration distinguished itself with a repositioned grille – mounted higher and featuring a broad hexagonal design – with the iconic blue oval emblem integrated directly into the grille rather than the bumper. The vehicle’s side profile remained largely unchanged except for modifications to the front bumper, while the rear end boasted a fresh take on the taillight design.
The interior transformation centered around a new dashboard layout, highlighted by an upgraded infotainment system positioned prominently on the center console. This system incorporated SYNC 4 technology, enabling cloud-based navigation functionality, alongside wireless integration for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enhancing the overall connected driving experience.
Prospective buyers could choose from three powertrain options: a conventional gasoline engine configuration, a hybrid setup, or a plug-in hybrid variant, providing flexibility to match individual preferences and requirements.
