Introduced in 2005 as the 2006 model year, the Dodge Magnum emerged as the station wagon counterpart to the Dodge Charger. The vehicle underwent a facelift in 2007, with the most notable exterior modification being a more aggressive front-end design.
While sharing similarities with the Charger, the Magnum featured distinct interior materials. Dodge management made efforts to elevate the Magnum’s interior quality and craftsmanship to match that of its sedan sibling.
The spacious cabin comfortably accommodated five occupants. The vehicle boasted an impressively large trunk with a capacity of 770 liters (27.7 cubic feet), expandable to 2010 liters (71.1 cubic feet) when the rear seats were folded down, making it a viable minivan alternative.
The engine lineup included a base 2.7-liter V6 producing 167 horsepower. The higher-end RXT trim offered a more powerful 3.5-liter V6 with 214 horsepower. The SRT variant came equipped with a 5.7-liter V8 generating 345 horsepower. The range-topping SRT-8 featured a potent 6.1-liter Hemi engine delivering 425 horsepower.
Transmission options were limited to a 5-speed automatic gearbox. While the RXT and SXT models could be specified with all-wheel drive, the base and top-spec versions were available with rear-wheel drive only.
Production of the Dodge Magnum lineup ceased by the end of March 2008 due to disappointing sales performance.
