After a six-year production run, Chevrolet introduced the fourth generation of the Equinox at the start of 2024 for the 2025 model year, succeeding its highly successful predecessor.
As one of GM’s top-selling models, the Equinox received a comprehensive redesign rather than a mere facelift. The 2025 iteration boasts increased width and interior space, promising enhanced driving dynamics. A new Activ trim level adds light off-road capabilities, while the RS variant caters to those seeking a sportier, asphalt-focused driving experience.
Externally, all versions feature a prominent black grille with a raised front end. The Activ trim showcases a unique badge in the upper-right corner of the grille, while the RS version sports a hexagonal, recessed grille design with a red emblem. Both trims share a black bow-tie badge framed by chrome, with the Activ featuring matte black skid-plate-like trim on the lower fascia and the RS opting for glossy black accents.
The compact crossover’s profile reveals matte plastic wheel arch cladding. The Activ comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels and all-terrain tires, while the RS offers 19-inch wheels as standard and optional 20-inch units. Two-tone roof options are available, with white for the Activ and black for the RS, while the more affordable LT trim offers a single-tone color scheme. Sculpted door panels and prominent shoulder lines create a muscular appearance, positioning the 2025 Equinox to compete against segment leaders like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. Y-shaped taillights extend from the quarter panels to the tailgate.
The interior features a fully digital 11-inch instrument cluster replacing traditional gauges, complemented by an 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Notably, Chevrolet retained a physical volume knob within easy reach of the driver, alongside analog climate controls with rotary dials and tactile buttons. The minimalist dashboard incorporates black trim elements, while the front center console houses a wireless charger and cup holders. The rear seat offers split-folding functionality for three passengers, with an impressively flat floor interrupted only by a minimal transmission tunnel hump.
Power comes from a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with a CVT for front-wheel-drive models. All-wheel-drive variants utilize an eight-speed automatic transmission.
