The 2024 Cadillac XT4 received a comprehensive update, including a revamped exterior, enhanced interior, and upgraded technology features, in an effort to boost sales of the luxury compact crossover.
Positioned below the XT5 and sharing its platform with the Buick Envision, the updated XT4 showcased significant enhancements over its predecessor. Cadillac aimed to attract more buyers by improving the vehicle’s design, cabin quality, and safety features. However, despite these upgrades, the crossover launched in early 2023 only slightly outperformed 2022 sales figures and fell short of its 2018 performance. The model was available in three trim levels – Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport – all sharing the same powertrain configuration. European markets also had access to a turbodiesel engine option.
Externally, the refreshed 2024 XT4 retained the signature wide pentagonal grille, with chrome accents for the Luxury and Premium Luxury trims, and piano-black detailing for the Sport variant. All versions featured slim vertical daytime running lights flanking the front fascia, while the headlamps were integrated into the upper front fenders. A prominent pentagonal air intake graced the lower bumper area.
The crossover maintained its sporty appearance thanks to its compact dimensions and design. A flat hood flowed into a raked panoramic windshield, complemented by a gently sloping roofline that culminated in a forward-tilting tailgate, giving the vehicle a hatchback-inspired sporty profile. Standard 18-inch alloy wheels came as standard, with 20-inch wheels available for the Sport trim. Rear styling featured reinterpreted vertical taillights in an L-shape configuration, extending across the tailgate and accentuating the rear window.
The interior received some of the most notable updates. The American version boasted a new dashboard highlighted by a 33-inch curved display stretching from the driver’s side to the top of the center stack, reminiscent of the Cadillac Lyric EV. The driver faced a digital instrument panel, while the center stack housed a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
To emphasize its luxurious and sporty character, Cadillac equipped the XT4 with supportive front bucket seats. The center console included a folding armrest, gear selector, cupholders, drive mode rotary dial, and additional controls. The rear bench featured a 60/40 split folding seatback, allowing cargo capacity to expand from 22.5 cubic feet (637 liters) to 48.9 cubic feet (1,385 liters).
Powering the American-spec 2024 XT4 was a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivering 235 horsepower (238 PS), paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. All trim levels offered the option of an all-wheel-drive system. European models could also be had with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine producing 172 horsepower (174 PS), matched with the same nine-speed automatic transmission.
