Acura has introduced a completely new sport sedan in 2020, leaving behind the updated versions of the TLX.
The first generation of the TLX was launched in 2014 and was based on the same platform as the Honda Accord. Although the design elements were completely different, the engines were the same. The second generation was created from scratch, with a new platform.
The Acura TLX has an angular design, with headlights that resemble the eyes of an angry samurai. The pentagonal grille and other air intakes in the apron give the TLX an aggressive look. Sharp lines are designed on the sides and rear panel. The 2021 model is wider and longer than its predecessor. LED lamps are used in the headlights and taillights.
Inside, thanks to a longer wheelbase of 3.7" (94 mm), the TLX provides more legroom for rear passengers. The middle seat is cramped due to the large center tunnel, as it is also available with an all-wheel-drive system. Acura has equipped the front seats with up to 16-way adjustments to enhance comfort for front occupants. A new infotainment system has been developed and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
For the powertrain, the TLX is offered in various trim levels. 2021 marks the return of the Type S version, which features all-wheel-drive and adaptive damper settings. There are four engines available, all mated to automatic transmissions with 8, 9, or ten gears, depending on the engine.
